UTE PLOIER | Urban Roots of Masculine

Back to the roots is the starting point for Roots, the FW 2012 collection by UTE PLOIER.
After having spent ten long days with the primitive nature and the elementary beauty of life, Ploier creates a stylistic fusion between the contemporary high-tech and speed-dynamics, and the basic elements of existence.

Ute Ploier was born in Linz – Austria; she studied Fashion Design at the University of Applied Arts in Wien and in 2003 established her eponymous brand for men’s clothing. Outstanding for the refined simplicity of her collections, Ploier made worth the lessons received at the university by leading names of the fashion industry, such as Victor&Rolf, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac and Raf Simons.

In 2004 she made her debut at the Paris Fashion Week, where she shows her collections every year. Her collaborations with LaRedoute and Topman are well known, she teaches at the University of Design in Basel and she was also appointed Director of the BA Fashion Course at the University of Art and Design in Linz.

Ute won numerous awards for her distinctive, masculine and comfortable menswear and for combining cleverly simple design to urban details.

Ute Ploier, in the past as well as in the present, redefines the masculine elegance drawing directly from contemporary inspirations, giving a new appeal to classic pieces that suit all styles and periods. She performs a detailed research of trends and draws from them a regular path in the idea of daily fashion, characterizing it with little signs and details.

Roots, the FW12 collection, is an authentic primitive recall to men’s fashion, the classic origins. Shirts, trench coats, pullover, cardigan and pants with pleats. Rough and elementary details as large zippers or snap buttons are introduced in the perfect cuts of soft winter clothes.

Materials are the outline of the collection and combine the primitive concept to the modern one; treated heavy cotton muslin, flannels, washed muslin, alpaca, mohair, leather and rubber in the shades of white, black and grey.

An ethereal collection, suspended between the essence of the cold winter and the rudimentary sense of completeness, which overlaps the sensation of white snow, given by  the white perfect shirts, with the soft heaviness of the salt and pepper knitted pieces and is defined by the classical grace of the usual black streetwear mood.

Ute Ploier draws a graceful style, casual and updated to the latest trends and currently fashion. Refined and complete, Roots is a symbol of modern sophistication, a synonymous of elegant distinction.
